Why a Support Group Can Be So Powerful

Reading “Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents” by Dr. Lindsay Gibson can be a powerful first step in understanding your experience…

But healing often happens when you also:

  • Realize you’re not alone

  • Receive validation and support

  • Share your story without judgment

  • Hear new perspectives from others who’ve lived it

  • Stay motivated and encouraged to make lasting changes

  • Learn tools and practice them in a safe, supportive space

  • Feel understood (without having to justify your experience)

  • Experience what healthy, mutually beneficial relationships feel like

Being raised by an emotionally immature parent (EIP) creates deep and lasting relational wounds, which is why healing often happens through experiencing safe, supportive relationships.

That's the unique experience a Support Group can provide.

Over the course of 8 weeks, we’ll cover 8 key topics + actionable skills you can add to your toolbox so that you can walk into future interactions with increased understanding, and a game plan to protect your peace.

Handouts for each topic will be provided along with action steps to practice between sessions in order to integrate new info and strengthen both your skills and your confidence.

Hi! I’m Katie, your group coach.

I am a therapist who specializes in treating both Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) and Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents (ACEIPs) because CEN is often due to being raised by parents who are emotionally underdeveloped and unavailable.

I know how lonely it can feel to grow up with emotional neglect and have a difficult relationship with your parents as a result.

It can seem like no one understands but everyone has an opinion on what you “should” do. It can be exhausting trying to make sense of it all, especially when others - even your family members - don’t share your perspective. The whole experience can feel overwhelming and frustrating no matter what you do!

I created the Online ACEIPs Support Group to help you feel less alone in this experience + gain insights and tools to go from overwhelm and frustration to clarity and confidence in your ability to protect your peace and navigate this difficult relationship...without putting your life on hold, waiting for them to change!

Space is limited so if you’re ready for a change, schedule a FREE 15 minute call to get started!

I can’t wait to further support and empower you in this group.
